Today, however, I figure I shall write about books that you do NOT want to read. Trust me, generally these books are awfull. I will put down both the book and the author, so things will be clear.

1. The Old Man And the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Totally evil. Avoid at all costs. Boring. Extremely dull. And teachers love to aply meaning to the entire thing.
2. In fact, it's just best to dodge Hemingway altogether. While I haven't read The Sun Also Rises, or For Whom the Bell Tolls, I have been forced to read Hemingway's short stories, or some of them. They are still boring.
3. A River Runs Through It, by Norman Maclean. Once again, boring. It's about Fly Fishing, and supposedly life. All I know is that it's boring.
4. The Secret Garden To boring for words. The movie is good, the book is evil. Simple, no?
5. The Pearl by Steinbeck. The baby's head gets shot off. Need I say more?

That's all for now.
More later.

I don't believe it!

And I don't! A new post!

Hello there!
A mixture of needing new book material, and having absolutely no time since school started up has caused an exceptionally long break between posts (Although I can't compete with The Queen's now nearly 8 month streak...) So, I am making up for it.
Today's selection (Drumroll please) is.... To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a great book, so now you guys have to read it. And my normal people know the drill:
-Anyone who has not read Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird please go down two posts. (And go read it. Really, it is good.)-
Now: Quiz. Yay! Aren't we thrilled?

1. What is Scout's real name?
2. How long has Scout been reading?
3. What does Miss. Caroline say when she catches Scout reading or writing in class?
4. What is the name of the cousin Scout punches?
5. Aunt Alexandra is not pleased when she hears that Calpurnia took Scout and Jem with her to church. Why?
6. What is the name of Atticus's black client?
7. What plant does Mayella Ewell grow in jars?
8. What is the piece of evidence that makes it clear that Tom Robinson is innocent?
9. What is the verdict of the jury?
10. What almost happens to Scout and Jem on Halloween, and who prevents it?

That's all for tonight folks. Later.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://nazgul_killer.blogspot.com/2005/09/at-last-new-post.html' title='At last! Today is the day before Eldest by Christopher Paolini is released. In honor of this austacious event, today's selection is Eragon, book one of the Inheritance Trilogy.
And- ok I know this is unusual- for once, I am not bannishing those who have not read the book! Special treat!

Now it's QUIZ TIME!!!!!!

1. What is the first line of Eragon?
2. How many days had Eragon been tracking the doe when he (for lack of a better term) found "the stone?"
3. What sound does "the stone" make when you hit it?
4. When Brom provides Eragon with a list of dragon names, what is the last one he says?
5. Who does Eragon say told him various things about dragons?
6. What are the names of Eragon's family members?
7. Eventually, what makes Eragon decide to run?
8. Why doesn't Saphira help Eragon with Brom?
9. What are the names of the horses?
10. Where does Eragon first use magic, and what does he say?
11. Why does Saphira refuse to allow him to ride his horse?
12. Where do Brom and Eragon go after they lost trace of the Ra'zac?
13. Eragon meets an interesting "person" in Teirm, one who gives him a bit of obscure advice. Who and what is this person?
14. Eragon and Saphira go swimming after Teirm. Where?
15. What practice does Eragon hate the most in Dras-Leona?
16. Who gets rid of the Ra'zac for Eragon?
17. What was Brom's secret, which he revealed just before he died?
18. Where do Eragon and Saphira go after the Ra'zac kill Brom?
19. Who does Eragon meet there? (This is a not-good person. Besides, he just sees the elf. He actually meets her later.)
20. What does Eragon say to Durza about specialness the Dragon Riders?
21. How long does it take Eragon, Murtagh, Saphira, and Arya to get to the Varden?
22. Where are the Varden headquartered?
23. Who is their leader, and what is his daughter's name?
24. Who are Eragon's most visible enemies in the Varden?
25. Who is Eragon's dwarf guide?
26. What is Eragon first act with the Varden after being dubbed "Argetlam?"
27. Who moved from Teirm to the Varden?
28. What is the floor of the Dragon hold?
29. What happens that endangers the Varden?
30. Eragon does a great deed, which ends the above mentioned threat. What is it?

A very nice, long quiz. Have fun with it, and read Eldest when it comes out. It's a book of re-written versions of Rumplestilskin. And these are much more conceveable. So:
--ANYONE WHO HAS NOT READ THE RUMPLESTILSKIN PROBLEM, BY VIVIAN VANDE VELDE, PLEASE EXIT THE POST. Well, too bad if you aren't, 'cause it's my blog, and my quiz, and that's just the way it's gonna be.

1. Christina is the miller's daughter. The miller is Otto. Who the heck is Rumplestilskin?
2. Siobhan gets unintentionally pushed into her mess by a troll. Said troll wants to try baby meat for lunch. He's also supposed to have eaten his sister-in-law Myrna.
3. The king, Gregory, has no desire for a room full of straw to become gold. A captain who has nothing to do with the Carleen is pulled into the mess. The only reason Carleen isn't sent home, is because of a bridge breaking.
4. The miller gets drunk on vodka with the king. Rumplestilskin is a Domovoi. He wants Katya to guess his name.
5. The mill belonging to Della and her father burns down. An elf slides sideways between particles to help her. The king is an imbecile with over 150 wigs.
6. Rumplestilskin is a girl. The millers daughter is Luella. The miller reveals who she is.

That's all. One for each story. Simple concept, no?

Answers, and just something I'm trying out to see if it will work

Hullo!
Here are the answers to the previous post:
1. Side affect of school.
Anyway, I have selected an excellent book called Stravaganza: City of Masks. I understand that Stravaganza is a series, and I have yet to read the second, Stravaganza: City of Stars. Reletively quickly after this post, I shall go to Amazon.com (My fellow book lovers, that online store is heaven! They have a whole heck of a lot of books, and you can even pre-order books, like Eldestwhich I have done.) and attempt to solve that problem. Anyway:
Anyone who has not read Stravaganza: City of Masks by Mary Hoffman, please exit the post. And because parting is such a sweet sorrow, I suggest going and reading the book so you come back later and read this post. It isn't really that long.
Now, for all those of you who have read the book, (and no cheaters! Actually read the book. That is a mission of this site. [and The Queen, exceptions are NOT made for you. I know you haven't read some of the books and have read the post anyway!])
Now where was I? Ah, yes.
QUIZ TIME! Please post your answers in the comments. I shall post the answers ASAP, probably tomorrow. (The glories of Summer Vacation!)

1. I thought it was pretty sad, but I like it.
It reads:
Americans learned about the bombing of London from newspaper reports. The attack was called "the blitz." It was short for blitzkrieg (BLITS-kreeg), a German word for "lightning war." Bill White was one of many Americans newspaper reporters who went to London in 1940 to write about the Blitz. He and his wife had no children. They knew that the parents of many British children had died in the air raids. Bill hoped that while he was in London he could adopt a child to take home with him to America. He went to an orphanage. The matron brought him a little boy named John, who stood there holding his cap in his hands and staring at his feet. The door opened again. The matron pushed out another orphan, a girl. She was tiny, just four years old. She rubbed her dry eyes, over and over again, first one, then the other, with her tiny fists.
"I don't know what to make of little Margaret." said the matron. " She is naughty. She won't play with the other children, and she doesn't eat. Bill took the two children to a boarding school. Heidi, the teacher, promised to care for them untill it was time for Bill to return to America. Little John went to Heidi at once but Margaret held back, rubbing her eyes hard. Slowly, Heidi and Bill pieced together the puzzel of Margaret’s past. During the Blitz, a German bomb had killed her mother and father, and blown up their home. At the orphanage, she had kept asking to go home. But each time she asked, she was spanked. “You must never cry for what you have lost,” the matron scolded her. “You must push the tears back into your eyes.” That was why Margaret rubbed her eyes. At last the day came for Bill to go home. He was allowed only one seat on the airplane. He could take only one orphan on his lap– in place of his luggage. He had to choose. Reluctantly, he took John back to the orphanage. Then he returned to the boarding school for Margaret. But this time when Bill reached for her, she slapped his hands away.
“She thinks you are abandoning her” Heidi explained sadly. On the train from London to the airport, Margaret refused to speak or even sit close to Bill. She rubbed and rubbed her eyes. At a train stop, Bill stepped outside for a moment to see where they were. Margaret suddenly started to scream.
“Don’t go!” she cried. Bill turned and she ran into his arms. Fear pinched her face.
“Daddy won’t leave you,” Bill told her softly, “Not ever.”
And then, finally, Margaret began to cry.
I really like this story, even if it's horrible that the matron told Margaret not to cry. I wonder what happened to John. Well, there's a story line for you authors: write a story about what happened to John after he was taken back to the orphanage. Good luck.

Shock and One Last Wish

The shock part is that Javafrog, who has insulted the great masterwork known as Eragon HAS BEGUN READING ERAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Pause for gasps of shock) and better, HAS ADMITTED IT IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now, back to business. So, let me see, today's topic is.... The Inheritence Trilogy! (I think I spelled that right) Now, I will be nice, because the only book currently out in this trilogy is not really called "Book one of the Inheritence Trilogy", so I will give you a hint about its title. Anyone read a book with a blue dragon facing to the left on the front of the jacket recently? 'Cause if you haven't GET OUT NOW!
-Pause for those who need to read Eragon by Christopher Paolini to leave-
Now, the following are websites that have lots of info:
www.alagaesia.com, and I just found out that my newsletter with the other two websites got deleted. Drat! I really liked those sites and I can't remember how to spell them. Oh well, maybe next time. Now, about Alagaesia.com. It's the official web site, and it has some really nice features. For instence, there is a quiz that you can take to see who you are most like in the book. I have taken the quiz and I am Saphira, and she was my favorite character. There's also a very nice newsletter you can sign up for.
Now, the last thing is to actuall y discuss the book. This part I think should go on mostly in the comments section, but I'll give a starter question: What is your favorite scene?
Well, that's it. Now I get to look at rain untill I have to go to play practice. (There is currently a rainstorm over my town, and it caused a swim meet to cancel.(and yes, I am teasing my best friend because there isn't much rain were she lives.))

Apologies!

For those of you who did not know the answers, please do not read the posting below. (Crowds of people cheering that they will not be required to read books to understand what's going on! They've seen the movies!) Unfortunately for them, I'm going to dig a bit into some of the other Tolkien books, meaning those long, thick, complicated, Histories! (People muttering "Histories? What histories? Tolkien didn't write histories!") Well, oh so sorry to bust their bubble, but Tolkien wrote a minnimum of ten histories of Middle Earth, and I'm probably forgetting LOTS of them! But, seeing as I've only read the beginning of The Silmarilion, we'll start there. Now, if you answer "Who the heck are they" when the next question is asked, please leave the posting.
Who are the Valar?
-Pause For All Those Who Need To Leave And Read The Silmarilion To Leave-
(No I am not going to answer the question so if you don't know THEN GO READ THE BOOK!)
Now, for the good girls and boys who have read the books, I have constructed a quiz for you. Please write down your answers, and I'll post the correct answers on my next post.
1. State Arwen's relation to Aragorn before they were married.
2. What was the name of Frodo's mother?
3. Who was the first elf to choose a mortal life?
4. Which of the Valar added lamentation to the song of the Ainur?
5. What is Morgoth's real name?
6. What did Varda use to create the stars?
7. Name the bravest of Bilbo's ancesters.
8. Why did Gandalf dent Bilbo's door?
9. What was the riddle (well, question really) Bilbo asked Gollum to win their game?
10. What is Arwen's Relation to Galadriel?
Now write your answers down, and wait with baited breath to see the correct answers.
Normally I will not have a quiz, and will have more info on the book(s) of that day.
That's all folks!

First day treat

As a first day treat, I have decided to put up the lyrics to one of my favorite songs- the disgustingly wonderful "Greasy Green Gopher Guts."
Great green globs of greasy greasy gopher guts
Pegerated birdie feet, negeraterated birdie feet
Great green globs of greasy greasy gopher guts
And I forgot my spoon/But I got my straw
And I forgot my spoon/But I got my straw
And I forgot my spoon
But Gee wiz, I got my straw!

About Nazgul_killer.blogspot.com

I looooooove to read. Ask anyone I know. So, you will almost definately see something about books (more than likely about the Inheritence trilogy, a series of unfortunate events,Lord of the Rings(will be under LOTR), various Tamora Pierce series, His Dark Materials, Harry Potter and maybe a bit aboutthe Abhorsen Trilogy). If you have no idea what 4 or more of these are then I'd suggest getting out, Pronto, or you may be totally and completely confused.
